I am often asked, during the strategy workshops I have with brokers, whether they should consider moving to a more fee-based remuneration basis. The pace of questioning has increased over the last few months as brokers begin to see their earnings reduce because of the softening market, the threat of full up-front commission disclosure and more transparency as a result of Spitzer and the actions of the international brokers to demonstrate that they are not being incentivised to support
