E-claiming the higher ground

When policyholders think it is just as acceptable to inflate a claim for whiplash after a car accident as it is to steal a towel from a hotel, you know the insurance industry has got a problem on its hands. When Association of British Insurers (ABI) research last year showed that people regarded insurance fraud as a victimless crime - despite costing policyholders £20m a week - the temptation must be to think that fraud is pervasive and just can't be cured - by government, insurers, vendors
